“…this band, with such a peculiar genius leading it, is a thing to savor.” – Time Out New York
“Keneally is the leading progressive rock genius of the post-Zappa era.” – All Music Guide

Long acclaimed as one of the world’s most creative and intense guitar and keyboard players, Mike Keneally’s talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist are nearly unequalled in rock music.

Keneally played in Frank Zappa’s last touring band, performing as a vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist. He’s appeared on many Zappa albums, is currently a touring member of both Dethklok and the Joe Satriani Band. He has recorded or performed with Robert Fripp, Wayne Kramer, Kevin Gilbert, Solomon Burke, Steve Vai, Chickenfoot, Bear McCreary, Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, Mullmuzzler, The Persuasions and many others.

Known for his innovative, unpredictable live shows, Keneally has played extensively in the United States and Europe, in contexts ranging from solo and duo concerts to performances with large-scale orchestras. His 52-minute orchestra-with-guitar suite The Universe Will Provide received its world premiere in 2003 by Keneally performing with Holland’s Metropole Orkest; the US premiere of Universe occurred at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles in 2011.

2012’s release was Wing Beat Fantastic: Songs Written by Mike Keneally & Andy Partridge, a collection of material written with ex-XTC leader Andy Partridge; the album was widely acclaimed, ranked highly on several critics’ “Best of 2012” lists, and spawned the early 2013 release Wing Beat Elastic: Remixes, Demos & Unheard Music.

Keneally’s album is “You Must Be This Tall”, featuring Mike playing all instruments on several pieces, as well as performances from Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller and Andy Partridge.

Phoebe Legere’s Bon Appetite is a family-friendly Cajun party band that blends elements of zydeco, New Orleans jazz, country, folk and blues into a spicy gumbo.  A standard bearer of the Acadian-Cajun renaissance, Ms. Legere is descended from one of the original Acadian families in North America.

Phoebe plays seven instruments. She is an award-winning accordion player and an award-winning songwriter.

Phoebe has released fifteen CDs of original and traditional music. Her 2015 ACADIAN MOON was added to over forty radio stations in Canada. In 2014 Phoebe, received the prestigious Acker Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 2015 she appeared on HBO’s documentary IT’S ME HILARY which was produced by Lena (Girls) Dunham. Her original song Hip Hop Frog, a humorous but deeply serious environmental song, was licensed by HBO and will be on her new album.

As a teenager Phoebe was signed to Epic Records as a songwriter. She opened for David Bowie on his National Tour in 1991. After the spectacular college radio success of “Marilyn Monroe” (Island Records), and her appearance in numerous underground films, se turned her attention to avant-garde classical music. Ms. Legere has appeared on National Public Radio, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC, NBC, PBS and Charlie Rose. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and at the Congrés Mondial Acadien. She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her work with the Cleveland Chamber Symphony. She’s has had six of her original plays with music produced in New York City. She has two upcoming commissions: Theater for the New City (2017) and Dixon Place (2018).

This highly regarded “musicians musician” has said that the death of the record business is a much needed correction. “Right now musicians have a golden opportunity. For the first time in half a century we can shape our own careers. More importantly, musicians are no longer the slaves of music corporations. We are free to invent the music we hear in our hearts today, and invent new ways to deliver it to the listeners of tomorrow.”

The New York Times raved: “Legere plays the piano with enormous authority in a style that encompasses Chopin, blues, ragtime, bebop and beyond, and she brings to her vocal delivery a four octave range, and an extraordinary palette of tonal color and meticulous phrasing.”

This “multi-keyboard, vocal wizard” (CBS) has been compared to “Beethoven” (Paper Magazine) “Edith Piaf” (Stephen Holden, NY Times), “Frank Zappa” (Billboard) “Dorothy Donegan” (John Wilson, NY Times) “Dorothy Parker” (Ruddy Cheeks, The Phoenix) “Jerry Lee Lewis” (Proctor. Lippincott, NY Times) and “Bobby Short” (LIz Smith, NY Daily News). Washington Post called Phoebe Legere “Mick Jagger with an accordion.” and Timeout called her “the Sexiest Accordionist on the Planet.”

The Rosedale Cafe is at 434 Main St., in Rosendale. Admission is $10.
